Bring nature to your home with
realistic coloured and pastel pencils art

Creating realistic drawings takes a lot of time. It can take hours, days and sometimes even weeks. Layer by layer, gently blending until the last tiny details are added. Every hair, every reflection, every texture until the subject appears on paper. This is how nature comes to life in a drawing and this is what I, Rebecca Engels, like to bring to your home.

Original artwork

Award winning artist

In my few years of creating art, since 2021, I finally dared to enter international art competitions with success. In 2023 the two drawings I entered into a competition both one an award. Special recognition for 'Through a field of flowers'  and Special merit award for my pasteldrawing 'Orangetips'  in the Light, space & time gallery competition with the theme Nature.  In 2024 I won 1st place for my pasteldrawing 'Peony pollination - hoverfly' in the Light, space & time gallery competition with the theme Botanicals.  My pasteldrawing 'Finch in focus' received the Special merit award in the Art&Color365's Animal art competition. I am very humbled by these very special awards!

Workshops & courses

Since 2023 I organise drawing lessons. These workshops and courses take place in my beautiful art studio in Culemborg. Every month new dates are available.

I draw custom wildlife, pet and nature portraits on a commission basis.  These hand-drawn bespoke portraits make wonderful and memorable gifts for any occasion.

"Art takes nature as it's model"

Dit is een tekening van een roodborstje dat Rebecca Engels in opdracht maakte voor een klant. De tekening is gemaakt met kleurpotloden.

"A few weeks before my mother's birthday I received the commissioned drawing of a Robin from Rebecca. It was already neatly packed. But I was so curious! After unpacking, the frame was the first thing that struck me. Exactly what I like and also exactly the kind of frame I had hoped for. When I removed the cardboard in front of the frame, my mouth dropped. What a beautiful bird! And so incredibly detailed! It seems to fly right off the paper. It is only when you look closely that you realize how much work it is. The feathers of the bird, the lichen and even the shadow effect of the bird on the branch. The background makes it complete. Definitely the best gift I would ever give my mom.

Thank you for taking the extra mile to make this commission so wonderful. If I ever want to have a nice drawing of an animal made, I know where to go.
