From

Each drawing is unique and created entirely by hand. Therefore, the prices below are starting prices for a commission featuring a single animal, excluding the frame. The final price depends on the size, the composition, the number of animals and the desired background.

10 x 15 cm €350

15 x 20 cm €500

24 x 30 cm €800

30 x 40 cm €1200

40 x 50 cm €1,800

50 x 70 cm €2,800

20 x 20 cm €650

30 x 30 cm €950

40 x 40 cm €1,500

50 x 50 cm €2,200

Several animals

The prices above are based on a single animal. For each additional animal, a surcharge of 40 per cent of the base price usually applies, depending on the size and complexity of the arrangement.

With an illustrated background

A natural background adds extra atmosphere and depth to a drawing. The additional cost depends on the size and level of detail, and starts at €100. For elaborate landscapes or highly detailed backgrounds, an appropriate price will be included in the quotation.

Framing

An original drawing looks its best in a high-quality frame. If you wish, I can arrange for professional framing with museum-grade glass and a luxurious, recessed passe-partout. The cost of this depends on the size and the finish chosen.

Personalised quote

As every commission is unique, you will always receive a no-obligation quote in advance. That way, you’ll know exactly where you stand before I start work on your drawing.

Important: a commissioned drawing is an exclusive, personal work of art. The composition is designed especially for you and the original drawing remains entirely unique. No prints or reproductions are made of commissioned works.

A work of art exactly as you want it...

A commissioned drawing of your favourite bird, butterfly, flower, pet or other nature-themed subject

Not just any old drawing, but art that reflects the character

In my drawings, I don’t simply work from a single photograph, but try to capture the character and essence of my subject. Whether it’s an animal, a flower or another detail from nature, I use high-quality pencils to create a drawing that will last a lifetime.

I specialise in a wide range of nature-themed subjects, from wild animals and pets to plants and flowers.

I’m happy to take on commissions. There are plenty of options in terms of size, paper colour and subject matter. You’ll find a few examples below.

Commissions

I work with high-quality materials, ensuring that the drawing will retain its beauty for a lifetime. This applies to both pastels and coloured pencils. Thanks to their high lightfastness, the drawings will not fade. And to provide extra protection for your drawing, you can also have it framed by me. The wooden frames are of excellent quality and the museum-grade glass provides extra protection for the drawing. This glass is also anti-reflective, ensuring that the drawing is an even more striking feature in your home.

Why choose a commissioned drawing?

Your personalised artwork is of the highest quality. From the drawing materials to the details I pay attention to, right through to the framing and the museum-grade glass for protection. You will receive a completely unique drawing, as I do not produce prints or cards from commissioned drawings. This is truly your own precious, one-of-a-kind piece of art! The work is professionally hand-drawn by me, in great detail and with a realistic style. You will really see my own style reflected in it. Thanks to my background as a qualified biologist, your drawing will be lifelike, with the subject’s anatomy perfectly accurate. You’ll receive your drawing with a certificate of authenticity.

Will you use pastels or coloured pencils for the drawing?

Pastels and coloured pencils both create a completely unique effect. I work with high-quality professional materials and ensure the best possible result. Depending on your preferences, I would recommend one of the following.

🌿
Pastel

Soft & velvety

I use pastel pencils from Faber-Castell, Stabilo Carbothello, Derwent and Caran d’Ache. I also use pastel chalks from Unison, Sennelier and Faber-Castell. And Panpastels – these are small pots containing pastel pigment.

For my pastel drawings, I use Clairefontaine Pastelmat. This is professional-quality paper with a fine, slightly sandpaper-like texture. This ensures the pastel adheres well and allows for many layers without the paper becoming saturated.

🌿
Coloured pencil

Clear & powerful

For coloured pencil drawings, I use pencils from Faber-Castell and Caran d’Ache. As a surface for my coloured pencil drawings, I use Clairefontaine Pastelmat or Fabriano hot-pressed watercolour paper.

Both are of professional quality. I can apply many layers on both types of paper, which allows me to create a beautiful, realistic portrait. Which paper I choose depends on the subject and the client’s preference.

Delivery time & shipping

The delivery time depends on the size of the drawing, as well as the number of animals or subjects in the drawing, and the number of commissioned drawings I have on my books during that period. On average, you can expect it to take 2 to 4 weeks to complete your artwork. During busy periods, this may take up to around 3 months. If you have a deadline, please place your order a month in advance. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

Delivery methods

I recommend collecting the artwork from my studio in Culemborg. If this isn’t possible, posting is also an option. I advise choosing insured postage. The costs for this are borne by the client.
